Crisis & Safety Disclaimer
Selah cannot help in an emergency
Selah is a reflection and wellbeing tool. It is not a crisis service, hotline, or emergency service, and it is not monitored by a person in real time. No one at Selah is watching for or responding to messages as they come in. The AI Companion is software and cannot send help, call anyone, or intervene.
If you are in danger or thinking about suicide or self-harm
Please reach out right now to a real person who can help:
- Call 911 (or your local emergency number) if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
- Call or text 988 — the U.S. Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Free, confidential, 24/7.
- Text HOME to 741741 — the Crisis Text Line. Free, 24/7.
If you are outside the United States, contact your local emergency number or a local crisis line.
You deserve support from someone trained to give it. Reaching out is strength, not weakness.
What our safety features can and cannot do
Selah includes an automated safety feature that tries to detect language suggesting a crisis and respond with these resources. This feature is a backup, not a safeguard you should rely on. Automated detection is imperfect: it may miss real distress, or respond when none is present. It is not a substitute for human help and does not mean anyone has been notified.
We are not responsible for emergency response
Because Selah is not an emergency service, you agree that the Operator is not responsible for providing crisis intervention, emergency response, or rescue, and is not liable for any outcome arising from a crisis or emergency. This disclaimer is part of, and incorporated into, Selah's Terms of Service.
If you are struggling right now, you don't have to carry it alone. Call or text 988. You matter.
